Borsa Istanbul Derivatives Market — Futures
and Options Market
An organized market where contracts giving the right to buy or sell capital market instruments (indices, equities, currencies, commodities, etc.) at a predetermined price and quantity on a specific maturity date are traded.
What Is VIOP?
VIOP is an organized market operating within Borsa Istanbul, where contracts giving the right to buy or sell capital market instruments (indices, equities, currencies, commodities, etc.) at a predetermined price and quantity on a specific maturity date are traded.
Futures contracts allow the buyer and seller to fix today the terms of a transaction that will take place in the future. This structure provides a powerful tool for both speculative trading and portfolio protection (hedging) strategies.
Transactions on VIOP are carried out under the guarantee of Takasbank; positions are revalued daily (mark-to-market) and closed with cash settlement at maturity.
Basic Trading Conditions on VIOP
Futures trading operates on different mechanics than the spot market.
Leverage Effect
Allows you to hold a position many times larger than your collateral. For example, with 1:10 leverage, only TL 10,000 in collateral is enough for a TL 100,000 position.
Leveraged TradingTwo-Way Trading
You can profit not only from price increases but also from price decreases. Opening a Long (buy) or Short (sell) position lets you trade independently of market direction.
Long / ShortCollateral Mechanism
If your collateral level falls below the defined threshold, a Margin Call is triggered. Profit/loss calculated daily by Takasbank is reflected in your collateral.
Takasbank GuaranteeInterest Accrual
Your TL collateral held in open positions earns overnight interest through Takasbank. This way, cash deposited as collateral does not sit idle.

The process of closing open positions at maturity, either in cash or physically, at the determined settlement price.
